Release of AphID to ITP’s dynamic platform
ITP is pleased to announce the migration of AphID from a static site, last updated in 2014, to ITP’s dynamic content management system, which will allow for future updates. The tool is a comprehensive resource for identifying 66 aphid species, including commonly encountered highly polyphagous species, and the most frequently intercepted species at US ports of entry. Aphids are one of the most important agricultural insect pests. They cause direct feeding damage to the plant and serve as vectors of plant viruses. To make informed decisions about the importation of agricultural products, it is critical that intercepted aphids be accurately identified. AphID is intended to help US port identifiers, quarantine officers, and anyone seeking a preliminary but relatively simple way to identify aphids.
ITP hosts over 50 identification tool websites.
